"Your film should portray someone who is Heroic, or someone
who is Villainous. You as a director must decide to tell a tale
of virtue, or a story of evil."
This started out as a one-day project
that we thought up when I was at Nos'. The script got a bit
too long to film in such short time, even though it wasn't
really finished. I came back several more times to help Nos
complete it. We were about half-way done with the original
script when the Heroes and Villains contest at Brickfilms
was announced. Our film fit perfectly with the theme, so we
added a villain character and bulked up the script. After
about ten of my visits, all the animation was complete, and
we worked together doing the music. Nos also did all the editing.
Since I did the majority of the story and Nos did most of
the animating, I like to say that I gave birth to it, and
he executed it.
Our original idea was that it could
be a series of different films, with a new villain in each
one. We may work more on sequels if we get time. Flux & Strength-Man!
was entered into a short film competition at our church, where
it won both Best Picture and Best Special Effects. Nos and
I each got hula girl dolls as our awards. Then it was entered
into HaV and placed 8th out of 19 films.

Production Stills

A wide shot of one of the sets. This
was one scene that received consistent audience approval at
Brickfest.

The pre-built holes. There were little
hinges attatched to some of the debris. Ironically, you can't
see it here, but as luck would have it, it's blatantly obvious
in the final version of the film.

Eww. Toph made me do that.

An early lighting test. Setting up
the lighting for this scene took at least an hour.

Oops. I was in a hurry.

Look who's here! This one made it
into the web version of the film. I was working on Frankenstein
at the same time and had him lying around.

The sunset scene without any filters.
